High school athletes often take a passive approach to recruiting, thinking that simply because they are talented in their sport, college coaches will automatically seek them out. However, the reality is that most colleges do not have the available resources to do a country-wide search for student athletes, and as a result, coaches are not able to effectively sort through the millions of high school athletes playing their sport. Combined, these factors can limit the athlete's chances of finding the best program for him or her.

Quotes About Wayne Mazzoni

Coach Mazzoni’s seminar has been delivered at over 300 high schools across the country. The program teaches student-athletes and parents how to get the most out of the recruiting process by conducting it much like a job search—targeting appropriate schools, and actively marketing the athlete. In addition, Coach Mazzoni clarifies the NCAA Clearinghouse, recruiting rules, scholarship issues, and other topics vital to navigating the recruiting process, making attending a Get Recruited seminar a necessary first step in finding success as a collegiate athlete.

The Get Recruited Seminar Series introduces student athletes to strategies for:

  • Matching high school athletes with colleges that fit them, based on academics, athletics, and personal desires.
  • Using athletics to help increase admissions chances, and gain an excellent education.
  • Exploring scholarship opportunities.

At a Get Recruited seminar with Coach Mazzoni, participants will learn:

  1. Why recruiting is imperfect—being proactive is the way to get noticed.
  2. How to target the right schools, how to narrow schools by grades, personal college desires, and athletic ability, as well as how to evaluate athletic talent and determine their own athletic level.
  3. How to create a marketing package that includes letters, video, or other materials introducing the athlete to the targeted coaches.
  4. How to evaluate the programs that are of interest to the student-athlete.
  5. How to review recruiting rules, conduct official visits, and how to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
  6. How athletics aid in the admissions process.
  7. How to determine scholarship potential and maximize the dollar amount.
  8. How to evaluate offers and make a final decision.
  9. How to prepare for life in college, and how to get the most out of the experience academically, athletically, and socially.
The seminar concludes with a question and answer period with Coach Mazzoni.
